Soylent Green is . . . tearful?

When I decided to watch Soylent Green earlier this year, I had the unexpected experience of being moved to tears during this scene of the movie. It's not the year 2022, but by the time we get there, the scenes that Sol revisits may be as scarce and nostalgic for us as they are for him. Corrupt corporations and spoiled natural beauty are no longer just the products of a filmmaker's imagination. Thinking about what we stand to lose and realizing what we've lost already are sobering and overwhelming experiences (brought to mind for me here in Soylent Green, of all places).
