Missing Dr. Sagan

These are the immortal words and wisdom of Carl Sagan with a modern cinematic twist. Film fans should enjoy it. Even without much knowledge of popular motion pictures, I found this to be so moving. Dr. Sagan's words have never been more fitting.

We miss you, wise friend, and we need you more than ever.

"We must stop pretending we're something we are not. Somewhere between romantic, uncritical anthropomorphizing of the animals and an anxious, obdurate refusal to recognize our kinship with them--the latter made tellingly clear in the still-widespread notion of 'special' creation--there is a broad middle ground on which we humans can take our stand."
~~Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan, Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors

"Humans--who enslave, castrate, experiment on, and fillet other animals -- have had an understandable penchant for pretending animals do not feel pain. A sharp distinction between humans and 'animals' is essential if we are to bend them to our will, make them work for us, wear them, eat them--without any disquieting tinges of guilt or regret. It is unseemly of us, who often behave so unfeelingly toward other animals, to contend that only humans can suffer. The behavior of other animals renders such pretensions specious. They are just too much like us."
~~Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan, Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors
